Estate Planning in a Pandemic Society

In light of recent events, I have received extra inquiries into Estate Planning: (Wills, Trusts, Power of Attorney, Advance Healthcare Directives). Some key issues for young families include guardianship of minors, third party management of finances and/or healthcare and avoidance of probate. Of particular note, I am receiving the most concern for Advance Healthcare Directives. This document, along with a HIPAA release, grants the authority to another individual to make healthcare decisions for you if you are not able to make them yourself. So besides estate implications, certain documents in the Estate Planning package can protect us while we are living.
