Coronavirus affecting some tax deadlines, others not so much

Income Tax

The filing and payment deadlines for 2019 Federal and California income taxes have been delayed from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020.

Property Tax

According to the San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector website, the property tax deadline is still April 10, 2020 and taxpayers are encouraged to pay by e-check.

However, since the county offices are currently closed, property tax payments will not be delinquent until the next business day that the offices are open. If the offices are closed beyond the April 10th deadline, a de facto extension may occur even though the official deadline is still April 10th.
